Badger
After the midnight crash of bins,
Our neighbour’s dog barking
And our neighbour shouting
I remembered the hedgehog
We found last month
Unzipped in the long grass.
Otter
If I were to mention otters,
One would dodge the traffic
And slip silently up to my door.
All I would know of it
Would be the whisperings of neighbours
And whitening spraint on the concrete.
