Ten Years On

Thomas Jones

The LRB blog was launched in March 2009. Nearly ten years later, it was creaking at the seams and in need of an update – which, as you can see, we’ve now done. It doesn’t only look different – better, we think – but there have been various behind-the-scenes changes too (i.e. a complete overhaul) so it should all work more smoothly.

The new infrastructure should be mostly invisible, but people who are already registered on the blog will need to reset their passwords (for the blog only, not for the rest of the LRB website or the app; and you only need to be registered on the blog if you want to post comments).

The rest of the LRB site, whose current incarnation is also ten years old, will be relaunched later this year, in time for the paper’s 40th anniversary in the autumn.

We’d like to know what you think: you can post a comment here, or fill out the feedback form, or send an email to blog@lrb.co.uk

Well done to all concerned: it's a really hard thing to get right, and it looks good. If a conservative is enamoured of existing evils and a progressive eager to provide new ones, I am probably conservative. But no doubt within weeks I'll have forgotten what the old blog looked like, and just assume (as with any new 'tradition') it's always been like this

Blog site excellent. Keen to see the full LRB Monty later this year. Sure the standard will equal, if not surpass that evinced here. Go and have a beer or a nice bottle of Barolo; but back in at 5 sharp tomorrow please.

Excellent bar one small omission. The ability to preview. Get rid of those embarassing typos and reflect on whether or not one is going OTT

excellent, good clear layout, easy to find one’s way around. one question - might it be possible to insert a way of looking at the latest comments first, rather than wading through the old ones? various other sites have this.

Maybe the 'creaking at the seams' was invisible too; I didn't have any problems with how the blog worked before. It looks nice now, so I suppose all is good.
I like how the main site works, but have requests as a subscriber. I'd like to be able to see when my subscription will expire when I log in. I'd like to not receive subscription offers via email when I'm already subscribed. No idea if these things are possible or even feasible but you asked.
    Keep up the good work.
